Lesson 1: The evolution of the Spanish Educational System.

Lesson 1: The evolution of the Spanish Educational System.

The preliminary ideas do I have about this topic are the Spanish Educational System has changed a lot from the Ancient Regime to nowadays. A lot of new laws have been implemented to improve the situation of the Spanish Educational system; and that  LOMCE is the law from 2013, which is  the last law that affects the educational Spanish System.

I have learned all the laws , including the constitutions from the Ancient Regime to the Moyano Law (which is the first educational Law in Spain) and what they say related to education; this law(including the constitutions) include: the Constitution of the 1812, the Quintana Report (1814), The General Regulation of Public Instruction (1821), the Calomarde Plan (1821-1823), Duque de Rivas’ Plan (1836), the Constitution of 1845, and the General Study Plan of 1845 (Pidal Plan) . I have also learned about the Moyano Law (what does it says about education and also how it divides education). I have also learned about how was the education  and the laws to regulate education during the time of the Spanish Restoration (1874-1923), during the Second Republic (1831-1836), and the Franco Dictatorship (18356-1975) .I have also I have learned the laws from the Franco Dictatorship to nowadays: Spanish Constitution of 1978 (the article related to education is the article 27),Organic Law regulating the Status of School Centres Organic Law on the right to education (1980), Organic Law on the General Planning of the Spanish Educational System (1990), Organic Law on participation, evaluation and Governing of educational centres (1995), Organic Law on Education Quality (2002), Organic Law on Education (2006)(LOE), and Organic Law on the improvement of The Quality of Education (2013) (LOMCE).

The think that I find it very difficult to learn are all the dates. So I have made a summary to help me to remember all the dates.
-      1812: was created the first Spanish constitution.
-      1814: was created the Quintana Report, in this date also,  was annulled the first Spanish constitution because a coup d’ ètan.
-      1821: was created the General Regulation of Public Instruction.
-      Between 1821-1823: was created the Calomarde Plan.
-      1836: was created the Duque de Rivas’ Plan.
-      1845: was created the Second Constitution, also in this date was also created the General Study Plan
-      1873:The first Spanish Republic, and  was created the Republic constitution.
-      During 1874 and 1923: Spanish Restoration
-      1876: was founded the Free Institute of Education
-      During 1931 and 1936 happened the Second Republic.
-      1936 to 1975 was the Franco Dictatorship.
-      1970: was created the General Law on Education.
-      1978: was created a new Spanish Constitution.
-      1980. Was created the Organic Law regulating the status of school centres organic Law on the Right to Education.
-      1985: was created the Organic Law on the Rigth to Education.
-      1990: was created the Organic Law on the General Planning of the Spanish Educational System.
-      1995: was created the Organic Law on participation, evaluation governing of educational centre.
-      2002: was created the Organic Law on Education Quality.
-      2006: was created the Organic Law on Education
-      2013: was created the Organic Law on the improvement of the Quality of Education.

The knowledge that I can generate is:
- I looked up the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and his is the article 27:
1. Everyone has the right to education.
Freedom of teaching is recognised.
2. Education shall aim at the full development of human personality with due respect for the democratic principles of coexistence
and for basic rights and freedoms.
3. The public authorities guarantee the
right of parents to ensure that their children receive religious and moral instruction in accordance with their own convictions
4. Elementary education is compulsory and free.
5. The public authorities guarantee the right of all to education, through general edu- cation programming, with the effective participation of all sectors concerned and the set- ting-up of educational centers.
6. The right of individuals and legal entities to set up educational centres is recognised, provided they respect constitutional principles.
7. Teachers, parents and, when appropriate, pupils shall participate in the control and management of all centers supported by the Administration out of public funds, under the terms established by the law.
8. The public authorities shall inspect and standardise the educational system in order to ensure compliance with the laws.
9. The public authorities shall help the educational centers which meet the requirements established by the law.
10. The autonomy of Universities is recognised, under the terms established by the law.

I looked up for a video explaining all the different parts of the educational Spanish System. I find it very useful to know what education is free now a days and also to know the different parts of education which a child need to pass to get to University.

Also this video I have found it very interesting because it talks about all the different events that happened to get to the education that we have now a days.

I also find this video which includes all the Law from the Moyano Law to LOE, it can be useful ro use in class, after explaining this to the students, as it gives a summary of the most important things.

After reading this lesson, I wasen't quite sure about the antecedents of the acien Regime, so I looked up for a investigation article from Manuel Ferraz Lorenzo, were I learned about the educational situation of Spain during the Acien Regime and also I have learned about the situation of the islands of Gran Canaria, which are in Spain and the situation was different.
